OKAN BOLUKBASI MD PhD

Dr. Bolukbasi was born in İzmir, Turkiye, in 1967. He received his MD degree from Uludag University at Bursa and following one year, worked as a GP at a district medical office of South-eastern Turkey, Mardin. After residency training in clinical neurology at Karadeniz Technical and Ege Universities, did his military service as a neuropsychiatrist at Mountain Commando Hospital. During 1996 through 1997, studied clinical neurophysiology postdoctorally at Karadeniz Technical University and attended International Congresses and the courses on the electrophysiology. Then, transferred to newly forming Adnan Menderes University, Faculty of Medicine at Aydin and begin to teach as an assistant professor of neurology. Beside from the faculty responsibilities, founded the Pediatric Neurorothopedic Study Group and worked as a consultant neurologist at Ministry for Work and Social Security, Aydin Spastic Child Centre for six years. During this period, continued to study as a doctorate student of comparative neuroanatomy at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, also.

Since 2003, he is practicing clinical neurology and neurophysiology at his private clinic and laboratory and continue to research at the Institute of Health Sciences of Adnan Menderes University. He gave many lectures on neuropathic pain inside and abroad and for last five years, he is on the advisory committee for neuropathic pain of Novartis AG, Turkiye. Dr. Bolukbasi has more than 150 papers and book chapters on several neurological issues and can speak English, French, Latin, Old Greek, Russian, Arabic and Spanish. He is member of Turkish Neurological Society, Turkish Clinical Neurophysiological Association, neuropathic pain study group of International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). His papers on notalgia paresthetica, has received much attention and won Lutfu Tat Prize in 2003, cited in the medical literature and some of them appeared in the internationally known textbooks.
